Adrienne LaRoe, MS, LMFT

Howdy!!  I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology – Marriage and Family Therapy.

I counsel from a strength-based, collaborative, solution focused and narrative approach. I also employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Gottman Therapy into my practice.  I see myself as a guide who walks alongside my clients during their therapeutic journey.  On your journey, we are a team and will draw from your strengths to forge a new path toward your new life story.   I feel that everyone has their own unique story that can be re-written. I have found that looking at our lives from a different perspective can offer valuable insight and clarity.

I counsel individuals, couples and families and some of the areas I help people are in the realm of:

Anxiety and depression

Autism

Grief

Post-traumatic stress

Chronic medical illness

Chronic pain

Decreased self-esteem

Relationship, pre-engagement, pre-marriage, marriage, and family distress.

I am certified in the Prepare and Enrich Program, I utilize Gottman Couple’s Therapy as well as Emotionally Focused Couple’s techniques.

An example of topics that come up in the therapy room are:

Couples wanting to feel close again,

Professional burnout,

Families struggling with chronic and genetic illnesses,

People discerning their academic studies and their future careers, and

Teens, adults and older adults looking for who they are and where they belong.

What am I like?  I have volunteered as an athletic coach for 8+ years. I have lived and traveled around the world and offer a unique, worldly perspective in the therapy room.  I feel I have been called to become a therapist to use my gifts and talents to help people needing mental health care and emotional healing.

I approach therapy holistically, meaning that I feel people are “whole”—made up of mind, body and spirit.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family.  I also enjoy painting, motorcycle riding, coaching sports, weightlifting, watching movies, listening to music, and spending time in nature.
